15th annual
VINTAGE VEHICLE RALLY
Held at
Wortley Hall, Wortley Village, Sheffield
Sunday 3 July 2011

Sunday 3 July 2011 was a warm and sunny day which greeted 168 entries and brought in record crowds, with the queue for the car park at peak times threatening to overwhelm the harassed car park team.  There was a Model Aircraft display by Dearne Valley Model Aircraft Club, who are based at Carcroft near Doncaster.  They have around 100 members flying IC (internal combustion), electric and some jet-powered planes.  Around 12 members took part in our VVR with a variety of planes, both IC and electric, and gave a continuous display during the afternoon which was very successful. They have been invited back again next year when, hopefully, they will bring more members with bigger and better planes of all types.  They certainly enjoyed their day.

Other attractions included digital scalextric model racing cars, a car driving simulator, Worsborough Brass Band, Owl Sanctuary, various attractions for younger children (bouncy castle, "fairies", face painting, clown etc) and around 15 other stalls of various types including food and drink for the many visitors.

There were awards given in 6 different categories for the Vintage Vehicles (these were awarded at 4pm by President Anne and Margaret Sheard (Mayor of Barnsley), and the winners were as follows:-

Overall winner -- Frank Johnson -- Austin Healey 100
Motor Cycles -- Roger Trimby -- Matchless
Special Interest --  Ferguson Tractor
Classic -- David Lloyd -- Lagonda
Vintage -- Stuart Hogg -- Rolls Royce
Edwardian -- John Thring -- Sheffield Simplex

There was also a raffle, which raised £560 towards the final total. The prize winners are listed below:-
