Event Notes Note (1) 1770 2 Aug William son of Benj. Laycock, Coates. Note (2) Probate Calendar for 26 May 1882 confirms date and place of death. Note (3) Apparent transcription error in index. Original is handwritten. Unable to compare others on Benjamin Laycock's page on Ancestry. My reading of the original is that it should be page 436. There are 2 transcription entries for page 431 (where there are 3 females and 2 males) and page 4[35]6. Looking at FreeBMD and searching by volume and page I was able to find Elizabeth White in Volume 9c page 436. There are 2 females and 1 male on this page. I am as satisfied as I can be that this is the correct marriage. Note (4) In 1841 census Daniel Laycock aged 30 living with John Laycock aged 25 and Mary Ann Laycock aged 12. No relationships are given. In 1851 census Daniel Laycock aged 41, a widower, is living as a Lodger with Joseph Parkin Hague, a "landed proprieter". Note (5) This is the only marriage on the IGI of Daniel Laycock at about the correct time. There is nothing to indicate that this is the correct Daniel Laycock or the correct marriage. Note (6) The transcription for this marriage puts Hannah Travis and Daniel Laycock married in the same quarter but on different pages. There are 6 females and 5 males on Hannah's page (transcribed as 641) and 3 females and 4 males on Daniel's page (transcribed as 681). The original handwritten entry for Daniel is clearly page 681 and I would interpret the page for Hannah as also 681. This would take 1 female from Hannah's page and add 1 female to Daniel's page which makes the arithmetic correct. Note (7) Banns read 22 Jan, 29 Jan and 5 Feb 1854 -- detail from Parish Banns Book Sheffield (Cathedral).
